There are a lot of great public high schools in the nation, however, only one of them stands alone at the mountaintop! The #1 ranked public high school in the nation according to niche.com is - the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics! The world-class NC public high school is located in Durham, NC, the home of Duke University, and it has 680 students in grades 11-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 7 to 1 according to its website. The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics was ranked #2 last year!
