New research from aconso reveals that workflow issues and technology roadblocks are leaving HR teams in the U.S. overwhelmed by an increasingly digital workforce and proliferation of AI-driven technologies. The findings from the 650 senior HR leaders surveyed are reported in “Transitioning from Manual to Meaningful: Unlocking HR’s Potential through AI and Digital Transformation.” The report finds that 75 percent of U.S. HR leaders struggle to align their HR strategy with rapidly changing business objectives while focusing on employee needs, which leaves little space to focus on incoming trends. In addition, 43 percent admit the sheer volume and complexity of HR responsibilities leave their teams overwhelmed; 47 percent feel stuck in a constant cycle of implementing layoffs and managing employee performance issues, and 43 percent are weighed down by manual processes.
Additional key takeaways include:
- Four trends will significantly impact HR in the next 3 – 5 years: HR leaders expect AI and automation (64 percent), reskilling to embrace new tech (61 percent), employee well-being and experience (56 percent) and needing to demonstrate HR’s value (55 percent) to significantly impact their own work and how they engage the broader workforce.
- A ‘tech overload’ and current workflows are stifling innovation: 46 percent of HR leaders say fragmented and ineffective solutions increase the workloads of their teams, while 53 percent say manually managing policy and process changes means their teams lose time that could be better spent on initiatives that drive business value.
- HR leaders plan to prioritize four technologies to unlock HR’s potential: To improve current workflows, overcome technology frustrations and enhance the experiences of their team, HR leaders see AI and automation (60 percent), self-service tools (58 percent), dedicated HR solutions (57 percent) and building a new tech stack (55 percent) as having the biggest impact.
